Crossloop software

Don't really know anything about this software, just stumbled on it. Would it work from my computer to another one to help out friends/family etc to download software or help them fix some things? Here's the link at MajorGeeks.com

Review at another well-known site states: "CrossLoop provides a quick, easy, and completely free way to give a colleague, a friend, or a relative access to your computer. After installation, your PC will be assigned a 12-digit access code each time you start the program. You then give that number to another user to virtually share your desktop. Once connected, that user will have full access to your machine.

The odd nature of sharing a desktop cursor and the inability to add multiple users makes CrossLoop illogical for proper business presentations. However, the complete system access and 128-bit encrypted connection combine to create a great solution for low-budget, long-distance tech support. Guests can use any app and save files on your computer, as if they were sitting in front of the machine. No router configuration is required--a big plus. File transfers are now supported, but the purpose here remains collaboration: CrossLoop doesn't work without explicit permission from the host.

Since simplicity is a key attraction, it lacks more advanced features, and the connection must be made in two minutes or it times out. While the interface and the features are simple, CrossLoop offers a secure and fast method for two users to collaborate on one PC."

Does anyone know about this software and/or could it be recommended? Oh and it doesn't tell you if it would work with XP, Vista etc. Thank you.

It works with all Windows platforms. It has been reviewed and tested by the MajorGeeks.com owners; deemed as safe and helpful and available at this link for download :)

GREAT!! Thank you. I understand that the "requester for help" needs to install this software first and then the "helper"? Wished there was some help file on it.

Can this software be saved for use at another time or does it have to be downloaded every time help is needed?

My daughter frequently calls me for help on the phone and it's not easy to sort out her problems just over the phone, because I like to SEE what's happening.

How much is Crossloop? I'm currently using Techinline Remote Desktop (www.techinline.com) which is $30 a month for unlimited use, and that's the lowest I've seen thus far. It's dead simple to use since nobody has to install anything on either end. The only thing the client has to do is open a page and give you a number and that's it. Since you can share your own desktop as well, it's perfect for remote demos and things like that

I know that I am bumping a very old thread, BUT a relative of mine recommended this software, and I have to say it is quite excellent! The interface is slick and it works across different versions of Windows (I'm using Windows 7 32-bit and I can successfully control a computer running 64-bit Windows Vista).

I'm planning on using it to tech support my Dad from college, lol.
