CRT upgrade to TFT - Resolution Question

The 17" CRT monitor on my wife's pc is beginning to play up and I was thinking of changing it to a TFT.

I understand about TFT native resolutions and to this end have a question.

The current 17" CRT runs at 800x600. I wanted to get a TFT panel which would give the same icon / writing size as is currently displayed on her current monitor (if you see what I mean).

I am guessing that a lower resolution 19" panel with a native resolution of 1280x1024 would be comparable in terms of display size.

Can anyone help and provide some factual info.
