CS:S problems

recently, when im playing counter strike source it gets really choppy at some points.. when i load into the game its very choppy.. last like 3-5 mins.. as i walk around everything runs smooth and everything until i run into an enemy... then as shots errupt its gets VERY choppy... so choppy thats i dont even stand a chance.. i shoot... its chops up.. next thing i know im dead.... does anyone know why this is happening and/or a way to fix this, its very annoying.

ps. it was fine like 3 weeks ago...

 

We need your system specs. CPU, Memory, Video card.

Have you tried using a smaller resolution? 1024x768 or 800x600? With low to medium settings?

 

amd athlon 64 3000+, 512 ram (yeah, i know i need more) GeForce 6600 GT... on 1024 x 768 res.

the thing is, it ran fine 3 weeks or so ago..

 

hey there m8 i had the same problem as you did and i have pretty much the same spec except from the new 1GB RAM i got for xmas yay! but anyway have you updated to the latest graphics card driver? latest is 81.98

hmmm you could lower the resolution but i had the same spec as u and had no probs apart from lag at the start of every level but not constant.

When was the last time you did a C drive defragment? or a full C drive scan?
Have all the latest steam updates been downloaded?
