ctfmon.exe

How can I remove ctfmon.exe ?

I was given the link below a while back on here to remove it. However it says to do stuff with Office applications. I dont even have Office and never had on this system! And I cannot find any of the options in control panel it talks about?

2 seperate programs have advised me to move it as it isnt needed and it hogs memory. Id love to know how it got on here to be honest as Ive had none of the software it comes with.

Also it definately isnt malware, its been on here for 2 months at least and been scanned with about 6-7 different things umpteen times.

This is the easy way to disable it.

1. Click Start and then click Run.

2. In the Run dialog box, type the following command:

Regsvr32.exe /u msimtf.dll

3. Click OK.

4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the Msctf.dll file.

As to how it got on your system, it is part of the Windows XP install. I dont know how far you want to go since it is a protected file. You can remove it but disabling it should be fine.

 

Zbd, I dont have any Office programs installed and that link does not help me therefore. I said it above methinks! However thanks anyway for the advice.

go to control panel>Regional and language options>LanguagesClick to details>Click advanced>under system configuration check"turn off advanced text service,and you'll never see ctfmon.exe again.

 

Guys...read carefully. Its been resolved for three days now.
