'D' and 'E' drives not being recognized by Win XP

When I click on the 'D' or 'E' drives in the Sendto menu I get the message "The item 'D':/' or 'E':/' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly". I am attempting to right click on picture folders, go to the Sendto menu, choose either my 'D' or 'E' drive and burn the pics to a CD. My drives are a LiteOn DVD/CD-RW and a liteOn CD Burner respesctively. I can burn CDs using Nero but is it not possible to go directly to the drives in the Sendto menu and burn them? I have Windows XP Home. Will Win XP Home recognize a DVD/CD-RW drive? Thank you. Bobby

 

I have a new computer that came loaded with Roxio's cd creator which has a drag to disc option where you can drag the file to the cd Icon on the task bar and it will write to the disc. I don't think you can use the send to option to burn to disc...

 

You can write to the CD using "Send to". First you have to get packet writing software, such as InCD from Nero or DirectCD from Roxio. There are others. Then you can create a shortcut to that drive in C:/Documents and Settings/"user name"/Send to. It is a hidden file. What the packet writing software does is lets you write to the CD just like a floppy disk. Of course you have to use a rewritable disk.

 

Thanks ArchAngel and MicrOdv8 for your fast responses. I checked on InCD by Nero and it will definately do what I want to do. It will cost $49.99 to upgrade my Nero 5.5 that I already have. Nero 5.5 does support read and write to CDs and DVD+RW. I have two burners: A liteOn DVD/CD+RW and a LiteOn CD-RW. I couldn't find if my Nero 5.5 has the drag to disc option or not. Do you know if Nero 5.5 has this option or not? If it does I can save the $49.99. Thanks for your help. My OS is Win XP Home. Bobby
