D drive

I hope someone can help.... i bought a ipod and i was starting to install the dic that came with it so it can run on my computer so i put it in and it said this dic needs to be fomated so i push ok then i didn't work nothing happened so i went to the apple website to install the sofeware thats on there and it work and my ipod work but then my d drive didnt work when i put a cd in and dvd in none of of the two played. then i went to the audio device properties on the contral panel and click on the drive and it said
(Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) )
so i tryed troubleshoot , updating the drive , rolling back drive and unistalling it and installing it back none of these this work. so does anyone know what i can do to bring it back.
