D/Led Progam: Remove 'Buy Now' Ad Timer

Discussion in 'Software' started by owen.family@usfamily.net, Nov 18, 2008.

  1. Hi All:
I d/led a nice little PC on-screen calculator utility, and want to give it a decent tryout, but about every 30-45 seconds it displays a dialog box asking me to buy it right away.
I may do that, but I am not able to use it for a long enough time to see if I actually like it.

What I am wondering is...did I read/hear somewhere that there is a place to find the .ini file (or??) that I could delete or modify to stop this box from coming up?

I am aware that the utility is a little abbreviated (unless/until I purchase it), but at least I'd like to be able to give it a decent workout.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi

I know where your coming from and sadly what your asking is pretty much trying to circumvent the trial period, if we could do this with this app, then there is no reason to buy it in the end as the trial will be perminent as we have unlocked the app for you, NOW as I dont know you and you me, I would just go on the premiss that this is not your intention and you would possibly buy said application, but being the internet we have to stick within the legalities of software licences, no matter how innocent a request is or how honest a person is. *hopefully I worded this correct as not my intention to question your morals or intergrity, if I have I'm very sorry*

You could email the developer and see if they could give you a serial for a longer timed trial?

If you link us to what application it is, them "maybe" one of us knows a freebie alternative to this we could suggest?

  4. CP:
Thanks for the links. I checked both of them, but have a similar utility that came with my wireless keyboard. At this point I need something with a little more beef. :)

    Halo:
Thanks to you, too, and...no problem. I wasn't even thinking about the legal/moral/ethical aspect, but appreciate you mentioning it.:-o

The calculator is a PC desktop version of the HP10BII. What I have seen, I like, but as I mentioned, the time thing...

I am disabled and trying to get going with a work-at-home venture, but need a financial calculator, and wouldn't ya know it, the one they recommend just happens to be the HP. Of course, seeing as they are doing their calculations with that particular unit, it would be nice to be able to use the same thing; keystrokes etc. ya know.

Anyhow. If somebody knows where there is a Freeware version of the HP10BII, and would let me know, that would be great!

    Thanks again for your thoughts.
