Ok using an 8x external dvd burning with 16x blank dvds win 7 HP 64 bit.

What is the best burn speed to use when I burn to a dvd; how do I figure that out which is best is their a best way ?a

Will I see a difference in playback and what am I looking for during playback?

And what would I see if burning to fast or to slow ?

Then faster it burns the better or wrong; is their a way to get to a happy middle with the movie looking its best ?

    Does that make sense I hope ? : )

Trial and error. Here's some info that may help you understand more: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/213511-introduction-and-FAQ-for-blank-DVD-media
It may not be recognized by your disc player; it may have pixellation; it may have freezing during playback.

The slower the burn, the better the chance the disc will read properly in a disc player. You can experiment and see what speed gives you the best results for the least time or you can search online and see what others have discovered concerning the discs you're using.

I use Taiyo Yuden ( which I think are the best for your money) and even though my burner supports 24X, I never burn higher than 8X.

Through trial and error, I've found that is the speed that produces consistent results.

I use brands of DVDs people say don't use and I burn at a very slow speed. So far none of the movies I've burned has failed to play.
(I do have one old DVD player that would only play DVD-R so some movies have to be played on the other DVD players).
