D930 Or E6400

ok just about to build new pc i have a MSI 975 PLATINUM POWERUP MOBO! 2 CPUS WHICH ONE PENTIUM D 930 OR CONROE E 6400 AND WHY?

2 GIG OCZ SPECIAL OPS RAM pc2 5400@667 mhz C.L. 4 4 4 12
620 WATT PSU SILENT HAWK ? I THINK
HIS X850XT VIDEO CARD
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 200 GIG HARD DRIVE
ANTEC MID TOWER CASE

MOBO IS CROSFIRE ; will be buying crossfire card later

go to this link and you can compare the benchmark scores for the tw0 cpu's for a lot of different tasks. You will probably find the E 6400 will out perform the D in most of the benchmarks. E 6400 is Allendale you have to go up to E 6600 to get conroe

If I were to buy a new cpu, I would not want last gen. That's just me. Conroe overclocks very well 3.5ghz stable, & beats anything out there at a good price. Sure Kentsfield will destroy it, but at what cost?

 

The E6400 is about as fast as the FX62 AMD is while being a bit cheaper, and the D930 would equal about the 3800 X2 which is about 40% slower than FX62 if that helps.

 

Yeah. I'd have to agree that it's a no-brainer. Go with the E6400. It is CLEARLY the better processor.
