Dailymotion blocking DL, any clues?

For a long time it was possible to download from Dailymotion using Firefox ADD-ONS like FVD and "Flash & Video downloader, but now it looks like Dailymotion may have started sending false triggers to prevent downloading. You end up with a bunch of very small files that do not play, instead of a normal .flv copy of what was playing. Has anyone else encountered this and what did you do to solve it? Please don't tell me to use Adobe or some video downloader with spam hooks in it.
Would love to hear from somebody who can answer this for real.

 

Dailymotion is now sending FLV fragments to browsers and download managers, around half a megabyte each, instead of the whole video as a single FLV. It's most likely their way of preventing downloads. Nobody knows of a solution yet. This is affecting all browsers and add-ons/extensions. Whatever combination you're using, the inability to download is directly because of how Dailymotion is sending the video.

Maybe some ingenious software writer / App maker / Extension creator can find a way to put these pieces back together and reconstitute the videos and make a fortune from this.

Probably not. I imagine if that were to happen then somebody would have a few lawsuits on their hands. From Dailymotion's Terms of Use page:

I'm not passing judgement here - just information. Sure, I know everybody does it: we've all got a few videos and/or audio tracks that we've pilfered from various Napsters and YouTubes over the years, but they're for personal use. However, I can pretty much bet that the minute someone tries to make money from pirating streaming software a whole can of worms will be opened. Looks like Dailymotion is just trying to take steps to prevent that can from ever being taken off of the shelf...
