hello all,
sorry I havent been around all that much, but school has started and Ive been busy. Anyway, I would like to let you all know that this coming january or sooner, I will be switching to mac for my laptop. I think PCs are great, but there is just so much that macs bring to computing that windows fails at. I will run windows virtual machine on it, so I wont totally be out of the PC world, but most of the time I will be using OSX. Ill still hang around here, and do my best to keep up on the PC world.

 

I went the other way. Started on Macs and switched over to PCs for the same reasons you quote. Funny that.

i wish i could go to mac. i love macs but i don't have any money so i guess i got to wait till my college days to get one. (then the parents pay for it, thats my college gift, a sweet mac.) plus i'm gonna build a pc for college too . so i'll have the best of both sides.

Back in the day I looked really hard at both Mac and PC. The final tip to PC was the sheer availability of applications and proggies written for PC. Everything Mac does it does superbly, but it doesn't do enough. I don't know how many times I've heard Mac reps saying "Yep,I know that ____ kicks butt and they've told us that the Mac version of ___ will be coming (okay you oldtimers, remember this netslang?) "REAL SOON NOW." (in oldtime netspeak "real soon now" was shortened to RSN and meant, basically, "when pigs fly.") Mostly I blame Billionaire Stevie Jobs and his fiercely overprotective attutudes (read monopolistic) toward Mac clones as much as I blame BillionBillionaire Billy G's predatory ways. Both need to be spanked and made to enter the real world the rest of us inhabit. (Aside to Wookie: Yeah I'm cheering Linux on . . . but I'm afraid it's going to remain . . . uh . . . well, a RSN o/s for quite a while :-/ )

 

i'm trying to get the nerve up to go completely linux for everyday stuff, and game on windows.
