Not seen Darlene1029 avatar about which seems unusual from what I've known of this lovely lady.

I've been away from some time so not up to what's been going on...perhaps she's moved onto a different site.

Anyone out there got any news? Just so long as she's OK...

Yeah, Darlene pokes her head in here and another forum every now and then. She's a bit frail, but doing okay.

Yup ls, she's one of my friends too on FaceBook and elsewhere though not under that alias. If you wish, I can tell Darlene that you're looking for her and then it's up to her what happens next, obviously it's not proper 'netiqutte if I just gave you her FB ID.

Thanks Augie appreciate your suggestion...no need to follow up. I knew she had some health problems and given how she was a constant in MG, it stood out that she was not about. So long as she's ok. Just say "G'Day!" to her from me.:wave

Hi There! Thanks...good to see she is still as resilient as I remember her to be. So long as she's ok.

Noted your Avatar has the 11/11/11 Rememberance symbol. Everything stopped around here at 11am. Once Rememberance was for those who were in the World Wars, Korea and Vietnam. Now its quite disconcerting when we think of our boys and girls in so many different countries.

Hi All still kicking LS, not having much to say just trying to stay well. Hows it going with you?

 

I did find a childhood friend I had been looking for for years, also her sister who I learned passed away a coupe years ago. Soon as I made the connection she went on a ridiculously long vacation so still waiting, rolleyes

 

Hiya Girl!:wave How lovely to hear from you! Had figured that's what happened...wonderful that you found your old mate on Face Book...bet she'll have some stories to tell upon her return.

Hope you've been kind to yourself, enjoying life, family and friends and moving on the way you always do after a crisis.

Things have been busy on my lil' ol' lilly pad. Lots happening with ongoing changes. Its felt like quickly moving forward, jumping rocks amidst rapids without looking back.

When I stopped for a breather and a look around, I noticed you hadn't been about since 2010! You've always been quite prominent at MG with your sense of humour, wit and survivor resiliency - your absence immediately became evident.

So, Thank You for taking time out at MG to say "Hi!" and letting us know you're ok.

I'm not a fan of FaceBook because of its level of security - however, it does have its uses in certain circumstances.

Lovely hearing from you. Be kind to yourself and take care.

It seems Facebook is the only way I can keep track of my children/grandchildren what with their busy life styles which is a good thing now days.
My friend I found was actually through Ancestry.com turns out I had been spelling her name wrong. That's a problem trying to locate females due to name changes. My girls are more liberated then I, they kept their maiden names.
I have also had a lot of computer problems, hope to have that resolved in a couple days.

Hey Darlene! Wonderful that you've a happy medium for keeping track of your family (grandchildren! No way! Like I said in a very early post, way back, you must have been a child-bride)

I see you've been quite the detective in tracking down your friend. Females' name changing with wedding vows can make it tricky.

Take care using Face Book - while it can be a great communication tool, there are always those who put FB to other uses where proper security measures are not taken up by its members.

Rather than bore other MG members with these "catch up" posts, I'll "PM" you in future. Just ensure your MG PM is set up to message your personal email address to save you having to check MG website.

Yes, have a great granddaughter. Only seen pictures of her.
I figure I'm too old and poor to worry about my identity. Have gone through times in my life where I should feel lucky there is no debtors prison

 

Darlene you are one of life's survivors.
There are times in our lives when we are tested but what seems so unfair is that some are tested more than others.
I hope you continue to enjoy the kids/grandkids and get some of the rewards you deserve.

P.S. still off the cigarettes???

(I quit "cold turkey" a few years back. Best thing I could have done.)

 

Oh my yes, been like 12 years now. Whats funny is at the time my doctor asked if I had quit and I was so proud I answered,"yes, only have one or two a day" :-o
I actually thought quiting would kill me being I had done it for so long would be a shock to my system. Started at 12 and never missed a day. I did it cold turkey also. Reading the side affects of the medications was even scarier

Hi Darlene great to see you again, Yes on facebook i am in Dutch and with another name but i do see you posting from time to time.

I am glad to hear you are well and the lungs are still working, i am in good form and gently rusting away.

It's always nice to see old friends here as so many have gone into hiding for their own reasons (even David GP is on the missing list)but i think mostly that this is more of a tech forum than a chatline.

I believe you and I were both in ICU last year the same time, just different parts of the world. That stay put me back to square one with my lung issue. Went critical three times, hallucinations, can't believed I survived that, don't think I would want to again either. Just waiting to see what's in store for me, not clear so far :confused
My first husband is in his seventies and a serious junkie, go figure. My daughter (our daughter) said watch the drug addict will out live us all. :-D

 

Wow Darlene! I didn't know you had a set back. Hope things clear for you real soon! Like I keep saying...best things for the lungs is fresh sea air! (Which you're not close to)

Yep both Darlene and i went 2 minutes to 12 last year but like bad pennies we both came back.
Mine was blood poisoning that caused double pneumonia after another operation and Darlene was also not able to breath due to her lung problems.

 

Let's make a pact not to do that again
