    Hi,
Thank you so much for any help you can give me. I have a VB board and haven't made any changes to it for along time. I use Ipower for a host for my board. Out of the blue over a week ago I began to get about 100-200 emails in my email account each morning letting me know there was an error with the data base. The error message reads User thedizzy_forum already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections
    /hermes/bosweb/web158/b1583/ipw.thedizzy/public_html/thedizzy_forum/includes/class_core.php on line 273

After the messages end in my email box by morning the board is running fine. I don't have alot of traffic to my site at best maybe 10 to 15 users at a time. The most was 77 a few years back. So I'm thinking maybe late at night its robots going thru the site etc. Not sure really, but over I need to find away to fix the problem as I don't want to wake up each morning to 100 - 200 emails to have to delete. Any suggestions on what is best to do would be greatly appreciated as Ipower will not help with my concerns and I over all have little knowlege on how to repiar a database.

    Thank you,
    Jill

This is usually a problem with your host reducing the maximum number of db connections available to you for various reasons. You can contact them to ask, but as my references show, it can be difficult to get them to undo that. If your site has grown, though, good hosts will often increase it for you.

http://translate.google.com/transla...x_user_connections-socket-hatasi.html&prev=_t, shows how to use multiple db accounts to help avoid this message. There may be other things you can do to make the database calls more efficient or delay page loads to avoid so many connections, but it's not easy.

Unfortunately, that's basically all you can do, except change hosts if they are uncooperative. :(

Your hunch about robots could be correct, since they like to use multiple connections.
