Data Recovery Dead Seagate Drive

    The drive was acting up and I was attempting to hook to an IDE/USB cable when it smoked. Fried the board. Apparently the quirks of the system shutting off were due to a power short.

    Any clue how to recover documents and photos....

    If the board got smoked, you will have to get a replacement.

    Thanks, I was able to find the exact model from this link and have a PCB enroute. There was a power hiccup and we lost a machine at work this week also. This system was already giving me headaches. Sadly most photos were NOT uploaded to Picasa.... :yum
