    GM Guys,
Anyone one know of a free data recover software program. Something that works like 1-care. Doesn't have to be that good.

Like RECUVA? Here's the Data-Recovery Page here on MajorGeeks.

(Many of these are Baptist-Methodist type of preferences - "I was raised on this one, so it's the Best For Me!" is a common evaluation. Your favorite choice may take a test or two or three...)

I believe most of these are 'best used' when installed before they're needed. This way, their installation process won't consume, bury or overwrite hard-disk sectors that you might need to recover. (I usually install one of these free programs upon the initial build of a PC. They sit there, perhaps never used, but they're available if needed.)

These also work with external drives, by the way.

The Recovery Process can be long. Extremely long. There is usually a "Deep Scan" setting for Best Recovery Possibilities.

There's usually another option for "Restore Entire Folder Structure" which is MOST useful. I really never want all recovered files to be mixed into one gigantic folder - I want them restored in their original folder structure, so I dig thru any product's Options or Settings to make sure I'm restoring the Original Folder Structure, too.

I often do these Recovery Options overnight, and then sometimes they're not completed.
