My wife has managed to wipe the data off her memory stick by formatting it. While installing AVG she had accidentally left her memory stick in during the "format disk" phase of installing

Does badcopy pro work in these cases? Is there any other way to recover the data? Any freeware data recovery apps?

    Thanks in advance

When installing software from a flash drive, you should never enter the realm of a drive format....im aware you probably know this by now, but sadly format means to wipe clean the data clusters on your storage device!
Its a bit different from plain old file deletion and most times, unrecoverable.

I hope that software can do it for you, but im not so sure old chap!

    good luck...

This program retrieves deleted files from memory cards and drives. Use it to restore photographs from a SmartMedia card in a card reader, from a Memory Stick inside a camera, and from a SanDisk flash drive. (link) I'm not sure it can retrieve files other than pictures, but that seems to indicate flash drives may support undelete operations.
