    Hi I have a 'friend' who is writing a WorldWar2 book on his computer, he recenctly factory restored his computer and I was tryin to get some info on Data Recovery.

    Here is starter information.

    You can probably salvage your data filess if
    you start your computer using a Live Linux CDROM* that can
    read the NTFS Windows partition and also connect an external
    hard disk (FAT32, so it can be written to by Linux), then you
    can hunt down your files (Documents and Settings folder
    is crucial) and copy them to the FAT32 drive. (connect the
    external drive on the USB port before you start the system)
