I put my hard drive in a new computer and it asked me a question. Something about converting or something. I lost all data!! It was NTFS format and the new system is NTFS. It has a totaly new partition on it now. Can i recover my lost data?!?!

PLEASE HELP!!! I had 250 gigs of movies, mp's and programs on it.

    Thanks

    We're talking XP, right?
Did the new computer already have an OS installed, or did you install the OS onto the old drive after you put it into the new PC?
What do you mean it has a new partition, did you actually re-partition it?

If you didn't re-partition then login to an admin-level account and follow the directions here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421&Product=winxp
for taking ownership of a folder, except in your case select the entire drive, not just one folder.

If you did re-partition you'll need to try a data recovery tool such as this:
