I have a lap top that some operating software (WinME)got corrupted or the video card is going out. Either way I can only boot the computer to Safe Mode. I need to transfer the data to my desktop computer so I can format the hard drive and restore the software to original. When it is booted in Safe Mode I can't burn to my CD drive. I am not able to install Direct Cable Connection from Safe Mode, and I cant use a USB memory stick. How can I transfer the data without zipping the files and transferring the data via floppy? I have some files that would take 80 floppies. PLEASE HELP

From what i can see, you would need an OS that has network support and supports your NIC (hopefully you have one).

Stuff to comes to mind would be a Knoppix CD (linux) or Windows PE (you won't be able to get it legitimately).

There is a free Windows PE type CD creator, but it requires an XP CD.

Otherwise you are probably out of luck without slaving a drive or getting an external one.
