Data Verification Failure (Nero)

I've been directed here for some help. Thanks to anyone who can . It's a tricky problem and I'm not sure if it's hardware or software related. The only good thing is, it's not intermittent.

Nothing I burn to CDR will pass verification. This has just started in the last few days. Previously everything was fine. (I'm using Nero v6)

I believe the problem is wrong data, not an incorrect message from Nero.
WinDiff reports file differences; in fact more differences than Nero's verification report suggests.

I have three burners, they all exhibit the same fault. I have 3 bootable hard drives and switch them between Win98,2000 and XP in the BIOS.
It doesn't matter which OS I use, I still get the same Verification Failure.

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with anything else. I have tried
a mix of media (CDR & CDRW) and they all fail to verify. The burn itself proceeds normally and reports success.

I believe DMA is on, although all burners interface via an add-on IDE card and cannot be DMA toggled. (This setup has worked just perfectly until now.)

    Thank you - Kirk

Eventhough I do not have that complex set up, I had the same problem. So I E-mailed NERO and they sugested to upgrade to a more recent package, I did and still the same problem! But (this computer is used by 3 diferent persons) one user frecuently download games and other aplications (like Alcohol 120%) and precicely that one was responsably for mine; that one create a "virtual" drive and that one is detected by Nero, so try changing to the drive that you want to use. :)

Hi chapincito, there's no games on the machine at all and the drives here haven't changed. None are full either. I thought about upgrading to a later Nero, and may do so, but my current version has been ok and if possible, I'd prefer to find out what's broken it.
Trend's Housecall finds no virurus - but I haven't done a full spyware clean yet.
If nothing found with that I'll try a new harddrive, disconnect all the exiting ones and reinstall Windows and Nero and see if that's stable or not. Hopefully the results will give more information to help nut it out. I did email Nero and send the log... maybe that will give a clue, if they reply!
    Cheers - Kirk
