I have a windows XP client who VPNs into our Windows 2003 server with the windows provided VPN connections.

He is Eastern time and the server is Central time, and everytime he VPNs, the machine synchs its time with the Server and reverts to Central. This causes some problems with his Outlook, as many appointments move down one hour when this happens, and he constantly has to change his computer back to Eastern.

Is there a way to stop this synchronization?

    Thanks.

Have you tried stopping the W32TIME service on the XP PC?

As a test, try this, from the XP PC, BEFORE connecting it to the VPN:

Make sure that the time is correct on the XP PC. Open a CMD prompt and type:

NET STOP W32TIME and press Enter

Login to the VPN and check the time.

If that takes care of the issue, you can disable W32TIME if you want... but I'd look into why this is happening. If you're using Microsoft's ISA client, try upgrading it to the current version to see if that resolves the problem.
