    Hey guys,
Tomorrow is a big shopping day for me and I'm looking to buy a dvd burner. Now I need your opinions. Both OfficeMax and Staples have dvd burners on sale. The one at Office Max is a DigitalMax 16X burner. The one Staples has is a I/O Magic 16X burner. Both of them are going to be on sale for $39.99.

Now I'm trying to figure out which one is better. Does anyone know? I do video editing and so I want to make sure it'll burn good dvds that I can play at home.

    Any help would be appreciated!!

as long as they both support + and - media, it should be fine
personally i would take the i/o magic one if it supported both medias, (i dont noe if either do) because theyve been around longer... as far as i noe

This is really more suited to the Hardware forum, but anyway...
I wouldn't buy either one. I've never heard of DigitalMax, but I've had experience with I/O Magic; they suck. Cheap optical drives generally have poor vibration damping, and poor performance. The speed rating on the box is meaningless, as on any disk that's not perfectly balanced, (which is most of them) it will vibrate to the point where the laser can't track it, and slow down a LOT to minimize the vibration.

For a good bargain performer, I'd go with Lite-On. You won't likely find one for 40 bucks, but it will work as advertised.
