Dazed And Frustrated

HI, Well I am new and would appreciate any help. I am running IE7 (although the error happened on 6 as well). I receive this message over and over and grrr.

then it tells me to go look at the visual c++ documentation abort, retry ignore

I googled til I could google no more and my eyes crossed (probably gonna stay that way now to !) The explanations seriously made my brain bleed.

Any help or a gun would be most appreciated

Ok thanks, I have downloaded the VB patch, and yes only when I run IE. I am now going to keep track of what it is that I am in when I get the error (to see if it's always the same ).

 

I've been getting this same Debug Assertion Failed error very consistently, however, it is not confined to just my browser (Avant), I get this error even using IE6, IE7, and it occurs in other programs as well. This is not a good thing as it terminates whatever browser I am using. I do not have microsoft visual studio 8 as indicated in the error message, and my visual basic files haven't changed since 2003. I've seen some recommendations elsewhere, suggesting re-installing windows xp. That's a suggestion not welcomed at all as it is a royal pain in the butt. This error started some 3 weeks ago. I too am extremely frustrated and especially annoyed with microsoft since every instance of this error is automatically being sent to microsoft. Either they are ignoring these reports, or they have no clue as to what is causing this error. I really hate going to their site for support, as yet, I have never had any successful advice or remedies from them. If anyone knows what is causing this error and how to fix it, other than re-installing windows xp, please let me know. Thank you.

 

Check the screenshot.

Under browsing, Make sure Disable Script Debugging is checked, along with Disable Script Debugging(other). Also, make sure Disaplay a notification of every script error is NOT checked.

 

Hi, thank you, but those settings are as you stated, so that's not the cause of this problem.
