Dban Program

I had to Re Format my Hard Drive and Re Install Win7.

But Win7. would say it can not use the Drive.

So I Had DBAN On a Disc I Made and I Booted from it and had it Wipe the Drive.
I thought maybe I had Bits of the Old Win7. on it that was why Win7. would not Re Install.

And Yes it worked and Win7. Re Installed Ok.

But DBAN is also used to Break the Hard Drive so things can never be Found.
And there should have bean a List of Option to pick from.

I did not have no Options to pick from it just told me to Hit a Key to Start the Wipe and what it would do.

Is there anything like DBAN I can Try?

 

CCleaner has an option to wipe free space. Several other utilities available will do that also. Major geeks has a few good choices.

I have found even after using several 'wipe' utilities that file fragments could be found. Things like a smeared top left portion of a picture, or a piece of a sentence, a partial frame from a video.

I don't know for sure if anything will clean perfectly.

DBAN will present a menu (really just a line of text with a count down) briefy but if you don't react it will defualt to it's settings.
