    I keep getting the
1608: unable to create installDriver instance, return code: -2147319784
when I try to install certain games, now I was linked here for some solutions.
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108440

I've gone through all of them, except for two.
    Firstly, the DCOM settings
It says to go to Start > Run and type in dcomcnfg, which brings up the omponent Services. This works fine, but the next step is to Double-click Computers, Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
But when ever I try to do this, it automatically closes...why?!
Every time I try it, i can't get any further than that.

    Part 2!
The other suggestion was to Manually Register IDriver.exe
    It tells you to type C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\<VERSION>\Intel 32\IDriver.exe" /REGSERVER
    In Start > Run.
Whenever I do this it comes up with an error saying...
C:programFiles refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.
Okay! So, I put a space inbetween the "Program" and "Files" that then makes the 'Open with' window pop up, and well, that isn't meant to happen, so i'm kinda stuck there.

So, any help is welcome. thank you in advance.

Well honestly I don't have any idea why it keeps closing on you. That may be another problem that someone can help with?

Okay as for your permissions - the DCOM error:
    Download http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4899
Lauch Dial-A-Fix > (click) Tools > (click) Repair Permissions > (click) Go > Reboot

That will fix your permissions, but I'm sure about your 2nd problem, sorry.

    Good Luck! :)

I tried the Dial-A-Fix thing, but it didn't seem to do anything /:
I still get that same error whenever i try to install the game.

Is there any other way to get to the My Computer properties through the Component services thing ? Because right clicking the normal icon just brings up the System Properties.

Okay, well that is completely baffling to me. DAF always works! LOL

Maybe we are missing the obvious. Are you logged on as the Administrator?
