I've got a MB with three memory banks (each rated at 1gig and compatable with 266, 333, 400 MHz). Can I put different MB sticks in each bank as long as each stick is the same type of stick ? Example: 256MB in bank1, 256MB in bank2 and 512MB in bank3. Each stick is a 266MHz, PC2100, CL-2.5, stick that is supposed to be compatable with this MB. Thanks for the help. Mack

Also, any suggestions on a MB that will post with one memory module installed but will not post with two modules installed. I get a blank screen and a series of long beeps.

Mixing different types, sizes and brands of memory is a bad idea, all motherboard respond the same there is no way around it,but to buy the same sticks or experiment, until you get a post
