If my mobo supports 2 banks of 3 DDR3, and the 1st bank already has 3 at 1066mhz; if I buy 3 new 1600mhz for the 2nd bank, will they slow down to 1066mhz or will they work at their full capacity?

    Thanks!

If you don't have any compatibility issues then the mem chips can only run at the slowest speeds/timings

just to make sure I am understanding correctly:

if I install the new 3(1600) in the 2nd bank and they work, they are only running at 1066 right? Therefore I need to either buy 6 of 1600 or 3 at 1066mhz.

    Just want to make sure.

    Thanks!
