ddr400 limited.

I was looking in my mobo manual and it said that if my memory is double sided, certain configurations will only run at ddr333. is there a bus spped or a multiplier i can change to get it up to 400?

 

Not likely. But then again, I'm no expert on memory timings and similar overclocking type things. Either way, I seriously doubt you'd notice any difference in performance between DDR400 and DDR333. Maybe post your question in the overclockers forum :confused

 

Sounds like you have an older AMD64 with the buggy memory controller.

While some BIOSes will allow you to force DDR400--that memory controller was such crap, that you would see instability doing so.

 

would I still be able to "overclock" is that all the same thing?

I am adding 2GB so i doubt it will matter much but for curiosity sake.

Only when all 4 mem slots are used with double sided chips will your mobo default to 333

Just run 2 sticks, anyway 4 sticks can stress out the memory controler

Overclocking should be no problem, Whats matters most for OCing socket 939 is the max CPU MHz ( your memory max FSB will probably top out before your CPU so stick to higher FSB rated memory and dont be afraid to us a divider)

What will limit your max memory settings will be your memory more likely then your MOBO/CPU & memory controller
For memory/cpu settings timmings look in bios at advance chipset settings

FYI one of K8N BIOS, updates FSB support to 450MHz
