I have an averatec c 3500 tablet/laptop, it had it's problems, was the backup laptop for years......wouldn't keep time right...I loaned it to step-daughter for video presentations and it died.......lights come on but it gives a choice of boot from cd/hard drive/floppy and won't boot hard drive or from cd drive and windows cd....

I really do think it's the cmos battery since the bios says it is...(my first clue, LOL) and it says run sku....

I really do NOT like this tablet but it has stuff on it I want such as photos etc. Is my best course of action to get a usb hard drive adapter? Is it just a regular SATA 2.5 inch? (I can't find my books, disc etc.). I found a cmos battery for $30+ but I'd rather invest in a newer laptop for my husband. The hinges on the averatec aren't real great either...it shuts down periodically because it wants to (gets too hot I think)...etc.

BTW regarding my last question....... I upgraded my memory in HP desktop to 2 gb and it screams......1 gb in this emachine laptop and it hasn't hesitated more than a second to do anything.....THANKS for the advice!!

You're right - it's hard to find specs on that model, but I'd be willing to bet it's a standard 2.5" SATA. Something like this adapter should do the trick.

Thanks Caliban....I'm thinking that would be the smart way to go and not waste any money on the sloooooowwww tablet....
