Dead Laptop

    Hallo

    Yesterday I was running the Vista Recovery disc on my HP laptop, and the laptop just died on me. I removed the battery and powercord and replaced them, but the laptop is totally dead.

    I had a corrupt registry and had just run a chkdsk from cmd prompt after using the recovery disc to boot up, when it died.

    Because if it said a recovery disk had been made and not by you, it sounds like it is a used laptop.

    It should at least turn on if the battery is removed and only the adapter is plugged in, unless there is a problem with the connector on the motherboard that the adapter plug fits into.

    Thank you so much, after reading your message I tried my laptop on a different adapter, and it worked off mains! I bought my laptop new from a store, I suspect an employee made recovery discs for himself - happens here. Thanks for the links too, my laptop is one of the models that has a dodgy battery. This is the same laptop from that post.
