Their official policy is to conform to the ISO 13406-2 standard.

This does not mean they have a zero dead pixel policy. What the standards say (for "Class II" panels) regarding different types of pixel malfunction and different screen sizes is below.

    Native Resolution : Allowable Defects

    Malfunctioning Pixels
    1024x768 : 2
    1280x1024 : 3
    1600x1200 : 4
    2048x 1536: 6

    Malfunctioning Sub-Pixels
    1024x768 : 4
    1280x1024 : 7
    1600x1200 : 10
    2048x 1536: 16

    Malfunctioning Sub-Pixels (Within 5 Pixel x 5 Pixel Area)
    1024x768 : 2
    1280x1024 : 3
    1600x1200 : 4
    2048x 1536: 6

although if you are in Australia they have a NO dead pixel policy and will replace your monitor within 7 days of invoicing/ you purchasing it.

Excellent info but I am just about to buy a Philips 19 inch LCD 190S7FB Black from Umart.com.au and their policy indicates that you must have at least 5 dead pixels before the "Phillips" will be replaced.

They do have a 0 dead pixel policy for LG, Viewsonic and Samsung. I have had such a bad run with Korean Products that I am trying to avoid them like the plauge, but now I'm confused because of this policy.

So refering to your link ASUS the warranty I have at the moment for a "Phillips": 5 pixel defects being either Black Dot (dead) or Bright Dot (malfuctioning)

    TOTAL DOT DEFECTS
    ACCEPTABLE LEVEL, MODEL 190S7
Total bright or black dot defects of all types = 5

Is better than the warranty from Samsung?????!? The Phillips is 36 months as well and it is not KOREAN.
