I had to post this because I think I got some pretty good deals at Wal-Mart. The lady did it on purpose, I had my MG's t-shirt on looking at some Linksys stuff and she came up with the scanner thing and marked down these items right in front of me because she knew I would buy them LOL!!

All of these things are sealed and brand new. They have 6 more of the video cards and I think I may go back...?

GeForce FX 5500 OC 256 MB DDR - AGP
    $35.00

    Seagate Barracuda 160GB HDD Internal
    $35.00

    Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse
    $5.00

Sorry, guys........I just have to ask. How do you go about installing a new 160 (or 200, or 800, or whatever) HDD in your computer? I would be afraid I couldn't get it up and runing again after installing a brand new HDD. I currently have an 80 gig HDD but would feel incompetant to try that type of install.

I have also never reformatted, or partitioned a HDD. I DID remove the old 80 gig HDD from my old computer when I got the new one, but had (have) NO CLUE on how to get any or all of the data from there to my new one???

Is there a tutorial here anywhere for fearful old geeks to learn such tricks?

I would be afraid to tackle such a task without live phone support ongoing during the task. That would be no problem for me, as I have unlimited long distance calling on my phone, so if anyone is game to try to talk me through such a task, please send me a PM with your phone number and best time to call.

    Thanks

@Gensuknives.....the new hard drive will come with set up instructions and a setup disc ....installation is just the reverse of removal and then run boot with the installation disc ....format/partition (if you want) ...then install operating system ....when that is all done, you can slave the old drive and transfer files.

JUst to post a personal note ...when I owned a camera shop ....we had a steady stream of Wal-Mart customers bringing in Canon cameras with blown shutters ...all just out of warranty ....they sell cheaper than we could because the shutters(read most of the parts) where made cheaper ...just for Wal-Mart. That $50 they saved going to Wal-Mart was eaten up with a $150 shutter replacement.

Allow me to address a few points from my own perspective as to how this is all spun:

There lies the problem. This is America. You must be fat, lazy and a slave to your Government. Any success will be met with resistance, usually from Democrats, you know, the party of the working people. They have forgotten "big business" employees the little man they claim to represent. This is why home based businesses have skyrocketed imho.

LOL. Did 14 years in the Union as a Teamster. The only threat to the union was themselves. The original idea was a good one, but it became so corrupt that the workers are nothing more then pawns for the leadership. We have no factories anymore because a company cant afford to pay $22 an hour for the janitors. As for the places they quote, except for the Teamsters and auto unions, the rest are basically a joke. No power, and even less for their members. Seen countless restaurant, nursing home and grocery store unions, they amount to nothing.

LOL, no it does not. Maybe people spend more for the bargains. Maybe while in a store for a TV, they buy a TV stand or 12 pack of soda? Dude, they had to go to friggin Iowa for those stats? Good stuff!

Thousands of residents? How many residents are there anyhow? Oh, they forgot to mention that. Because when the store is built, the rednecks will flock to it. Thats ok, the internet rocks. The answer is 70,238.

Well, I am an animal lover, but this is original. I wonder how many animals died so these residents could build their homes where THEY wanted them? Were all guilt of that.

Ok, while this guy eventually stoops to the old tactics, he gets it right. Been to Chicago, would not live there personally, but what a GREAT city! He was ontrack for most of his article. That article should have Chicagoans forming a human chain to stop it. Lets' see....

VERY IMPORTANT: Frankly, I rarely shop there, preferring to do business with smaller places whenever I can. Wal-Mart also SPAWNS business, no one mentions that. Find any Wal-Mart and they are surrounded in no time by strip mall, restaurants, etc. No one, I mean NO ONE ever adds those numbers up. I dont disagree with some of the articles, I disagree with attacking one company while ignoring literally tens of thousands of others. So, while I can agree with some of the articles, it is the politics that makes it laughable. THAT is the point, why complain with fake numbers and BS when you have facts? So, the majority, like me, are forced to laugh at those websites and their skewed perspective which costs them credibility. We have a new one coming and they always complain about traffic. Again, politics, Wal-MArt will spend whatever you ask to widen roadways and more. They just did so about 10 miles up the road.

Wal-Mart is China, for the most part. I see it as the old Japan with transistor radios, they'll get it right soon enough as Japan did with cars. I'm sure there are many of us who have Chinese boards etc. Just look at the current trade deficit the US has with them, some $200B/yr ATM. Check out what the 'Bush' government has to say, a bit dated but still relevant, See it here

We are in the same boat up here. Our county resisted pressure from Wal-Mart for 15 yrs. but with a change in politicians, they moved in. We also have that with a Home Depot across the street. Killed the downtown area. I just see more neighbours collecting unemployment or welfare or getting minimum wage. Sad state really.

Sorry to hear it. Like I said, my rational is not perfect, its more a reflection of my recent "all politicians suck" attitude. Just seems like a better way has to be there if this is so horrible. But what, they manage to grow and grow and after all the fighting, pack them in. On my way to my camp, i pass a small town called Central Square, for the most part, good old country folk who just want to be left alone, the types you would think would never stand for this. But, there they are, mullets and all, every day, shopping.

It is depressing, work hard, save your money, because no one else will take care of you. Learned that the hard way, both personally and with family. No one else gives a shit, so cover your own butt.

P.S: Apologies to BJ for hijacking your thread brother :)

This thread was doomed to be hijacked, so I'll add mine. I'm opposed to Walmart and their practices. It seems that anything goes if you can get away with it. The Walmart box here didn't seem to affect businesses too much. Tha arrival of the store actually brought more shoppers to town. We are unique in that Cranbrook is a hub city able to draw people here. There is a labour shortage here and I'm interested to see what happens at Walmart when they can't keep staff for 8 bucks an hour when McDonald's is paying 10.

I think that an evil company is ExxonMobil and ChevronTexaco that force us to pay 3.50 a gallon for gasoline. If I can get $35 DVDs at wally world instead from an online company where some loser is gonna rip off my credit card, I like it.

Wal-Mart is the biggest importer of slave labor items. Paying someone in India to sew stripes on pants that sell for more then she earns in a month, living on dirt floors with babies to feed. K-Mart is probably #2.
When people were asked if they were willing to pay a few cents more to rectify this almost all said no.
    Personally, I don't do Wal-Mart. If I can't afford it, I do without.

I hate to bust your bubble, but...with a mortgage, two car payments, other bills, and a baby on the way....I'm going to go where the $$ is less, especially when it is just a hop skip and a jump down the road!!!! Those people chose to get a job there, and no matter how many flyers I pass out or how many chain letters I send out...It's not going to make a difference!!!! I hate to look at the downside of things, but it's sadly the truth!!

I have to admit though...their meat sucks!!!!

Well thats certainly you prerogative. I'm just saying that the cloths are being made in a country by people who instead of a mortgage, live on dirt floors in tin and cardboard shelters, cars, out of the question, no bills because they eat rice or what ever crap can be scrounged up that day, once or twice a day. But it is certainly your propagative. - bon appétit

I recommend going into Best Buy, I kid you guys not, I had 4 people ask me what MG's was and after I explained they asked if I would write down the site for them. I love wearing the shirt in Best Buy because everytime someone asks me for more information. I need to get me another one because it's starting to get small on me.
