Well, after years of 8mm, I am finally making the move to putting my vid's on vcd so I can send them out to my family . What are some of the better video capture devices out there.

    Thanks :)

I have a Radeon All-in-wonder and can't complain. I don't really care for the software that comes with it, but the hardware seems good enough. :)

I've heard people recommend getting a seperate PCI capture card so that you don't have to upgrade to the next All-in-wonder to get a better video card.

yeah, I already have a 9800 pro. Don't think I want to go that expensive just for this. I may just take them to the store to have it done, but I'd still like the info so I can make decision based on price.

I cant say what is better.
But I can say I got one of these:

I have made a couple of VCD's with it, the Quality seem's to be as good as the original VHS tape I made it from.

I didnt need any extra software, I used windows XP movie maker, it was pretty simple to just make exact copy of my VHS.
I tryed to do some Editing, I seen that was going to be very time consuming so I skipped that for now.

When I bought it I was intending to make all my VHS tapes DVD's, I just havent found the time or patience.

I found another benifit to that ATI capture card, when I'm surfing the web or what ever I can also watch TV/sports or what ever.
I have dual monitor setup, but you can also do with single.
I can also set the input signal/video as desktop back ground, and open windows and or view in transparancy mode, Interesting.

Pinnacle & Leadtek also make similar cards about the same price range.

    Good Luck!
