decompress an exe file

Saw i earlier threads a disicussion about unpacking/decompressing exe files.
I have a file (paid for it) with a powerpoint slide show that was made into an exe file (most likely with iexpress or something similar). I'd like to decompress it to have access to the individual pictures. Any ideas ?

Doubtful, but you can try deleteing everything within the %temp% folder on your computer. THen run the EXEcutable file, while the file is running, access the %temp% folder and you may (or may not) find what you are looking for......Since I don't have the .exe in front of me, I have no idea if this is possible.

 

You can try opening the file with WinZIP or WinRAR, but you most likely signed a liscence agreement when you purchased the software that said you agree not to modify or disassemble the software. That is, you're probably breaking the EULA.

Also, it may not be PowerPoint at all. It is more likely that is is Macromedia Flash, Shockware, or some piece of random overpriced Adobe software. Of course, Adobe is buying Macromedia....

 

Not a zip file. It's a slide show and by the transition effects, I can tell it was made with powerpoint. There is way to create a EXE file with a powerpoint slideshow using IExpress. This way, a user does not need powerpoint or the viewer on their computer to see the slideshow. It creates a EXE file. I don't think it's like an exe file written with codes. I've looked trying to find a way to unpack/decompress a file created by iexpress but no luck so far.
