    Timely reminder BOOMM. Here's Alton Brown's admitedly somewhat anal yet funny take on it. I wonder how well those advertised Butterball electric fryers work. It must include a whole book of warnings and legalese.:-D Canadians and perhaps others will have to access parts 2 and 3 through an American proxy. Shove it Scripps!:mad

    I love the fact that so many Americans deep fry Turkey's in huge pot outdoors that a safety video is needed:-D

    But I have to admit I now want to deep fry a turkey,after quick search it seems this is the definitive BEST way to cook a turkey.

    Just another take here.

    OK, turkey season for you yanks but it's pork hock season for us now!:drool Bought 15 lbs of it.:-D It's too bad that the butcher was sold out of smoked ones, but I added a teaspoon of liquid hickory smoke to the water along with bay leaves and whole cloves + a bit of salt, about 4 pounds of pork.

    I should say that I don't eat the skin often but it's soooo goooood!;):yum Tomorrow I'll see how the stock congeals, scraping the fat on top off of it of course, and use the rest of the meat in a poor man's 'head cheese' as pig heads are scarce these days as the big boys buy them up but my version is better of course.;) Let the Vodka start flowing!

    Add some homemade sauerkraut, horseradish, pickles and bread and I'm in heaven! As you might have already guessed, my heritage is from eastern Europe, Lithuania to be exact.

    Enjoy your smoked tofurkey or that monstrosity you guys(I guess us too) have with such big breasts that they can't even reproduce, besides drying to the texture of cardboard.:puke Hog the gravy man. I'm a leg man and might deep-fry that instead of the whole bloody bird! Just for the heck of it.:)
