Sometimes my default browser (Chrome) in Win 10 doesn't open a hyperlink... but Microsoft Edge opens the link instead. I've checked all the settings to which I am aware, and they reflect Chrome as my default browser. Why does Edge sometimes open a link?

On a side note: I have a friend who appears to have a virus which freezes his PC... but only when Edge opens. He's run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Everything is fine when using Chrome... but if he opens Edge by mistake, the virus reappears and freezes his PC.

I tried Edge for a while, but usually after about three days, it would freeze my pc. Not a virus....just a crappy browser.

Microsoft edge can be associated with 'edge links' - in the source HTML they are href="microsoft-edge:http://websitegoeshere" The microsoft site is dotted with those I've found them in a number of places, but normally they warn you that they're going to open in Edge.

But I'm assuming those are not what you're referring to.
