    Hi Guys,

At the moment I am writing a python script which will be compiled into an EXE to back up selected Files and folders from a users computer to a server mapped drive. All is going well however when it comes to e-mail client, i cant find anywere to detect what is the default mail client, all reference within the Registery are incorrect, anyone have any ideas on how to do this without a set up script / conf file?

    Thanks for the input!

This really tickles me I have posted this on 5 windows Fourms over the past week or so with no responce or ideas, so as a last ditch attempt i posted on a linux fourm, and got a result,
    the reg key is:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command

Looks like linux techs are the best LOL
    hope this helps others

On my Windows XP SP3 installation, there is No such key shown.

    I did find:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command

    which has a single entry:
    REG_EXPAND_SZ
    "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /mailurl:%1

    also, the same data at:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook Express\mailto\shell\open\command
