Default profile after reboot, all Windows UI gone, please help

I'm going to cry.

I was just uninstalling Logitech webcam software for a camera I no longer have. The installer froze up halfway through saying that it had insufficient privileges. I gave it about 10 minutes and when nothing happened, I just rebooted. When I did, the splash screen came up saying Preparing your Desktop, Windows loaded with a default profile, black desktop, and none of my UI. (Nor any of my pictures, documents, music, etc seem to be there.. although I can't be sure because search function doesn't work either)

Accessing explorer at all returns:
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable.

I've researched the problem and found it to be fairly common, but none of the fixes seem to work. This is the 2nd time this has happened, I suspect for the same reason, but the first time I was in the middle of updating a bunch of things and removing others, so I wasn't exactly sure what the cause was. That time I ran a System Restore. I could do that again, but I'm kind of scared to because last time although it did work, I was only able to recover my photos music and documents because for some reason they were buried in temporary files.

Please help me, this is a nightmare. I'm running Win 7 Home, and I can give you full specs or a DxDiag or whatever you may need. since this seems to be fairly common I'm hoping someone out there will know what's going on.
