Hallo all! Here's my puzzle: After a year of my Magic Jack working fine, two weeks ago I could no longer call local numbers in the two exchanges controlled by my DSL provider. other area codes and exchanges still work fine. But while trying to look for my wireless router or DSL modem settings , I used ipconfig /all to get the IP addresses. I typed the default gateway IP (that's supposed to be my wireless router, no?) into IE8 (on my XPHome sys) and a window comes up asking for a name and password. It's not my DSL account name/password. And, in the ipconfig /all list of IP addresses, the address 10.0.0.2 is listed for the default gateway, DNS server and DHCP server. I'm confused! Any insights on any of this would help! Thanx. :confused

    Welcome to the forum Emc2.

The Default Gateway should be your Router address. In most DSL Modems, the Router is integrated so the access is the same for the Modem and the Router. The User/Password is probably the ISP's default if you have never changed it.

What is the Make and Model of the Modem and also the Router if they are separate?

Hi, Tnx for responding so quick. I've made some headway - the modem and router are separate; I found by guessing that the wireless Linksys router was actually 10.0.0.5 and was able to get to it via IE, using the default login (Administrator|admin). I see now their server, being 10.0.0.2, must have their own login of course which I wouldn't be able to access... I did actually re-set the router, which brought it to its 192.168.0.1 (if I remember right now) and was able to go in to re-set it to 10.0.0.5, and ran the IE connection diagnostic which restored connectivity - not exactly methodical troubleshooting but i've got internet back for the computer and the bluRay. Not sure why the defgateway was showing in ipconfig as 10.0.0.2 when it was set at 10.0.0.5. But there's a LOT I'm not sure of! Still not able to call with magicjack in the DSL exchanges. I've reported this to magicjack and hopefully they'll have an explanation or fix. Our rural DSL provider area code is not on the magicjack list of 'not supported', but I read somewhere mj was stopping support of some rural-type areas, to cut costs i guess. Maybe they'll restore it since they've heard from us. Thanks Again! Love this site, have found many answers here over the years!
