I installed a new extra disk drive on my pc a few weeks ago. i kept my exiting c drive. I am using the new drive to save all my documents onto it like pics videos etc.
Ever since i added the new drive, every time i try to defragment this new drive (with diskeeper lite or windows dfrg) i get the following message:

'Defragmentation of New Volume (F) has been aborted due to inconsitencies that were detected in the filesystem. Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on new volume (F) to repair these inconsistencies, then run Disk Defragmenter again.'

Or I sometimes get a message in Diskeeper lite or Dfrg saying that CHKDSK is scheduled to run at start up due to a program or user request. When CHKDSK runs at start up it deletes different files everytime in F: and then it defrags ok for a couple days then i get the message again.

Lucky I have kept a copy of all my docs in an external hard drive.

    Please help. Thanks

For fun, open "My Computer" right click on the new drive and click tools and see if the tools will run from there. Almost sounds like this drive was not setup right when it was first installed. These tools can also be run from a command prompt within windows. I am not a fan of diskkeeper and this is part of the reason why. Hope this solves the problems. An after thought, stop all diskkeeper processes even through task manager, then try the suggestions above. If this works for you then you may want to reconsider using diskkeeper. Also several tools are available through the administrative tools section for drives.
