Defrag software

    I know there's a bunch of great free defrag apps for Windows 2000 & Windows XP, but I can't seem to find one for Windows 98se.... can someone recommend a quality free defrag for a Win98SE computer?
    Thanks!

    (yeah, I know.... upgrade to XP.... at this particular moment, money is an issue... and it isn't my PC...)

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=20#defraghd The last few in the list appear to work on Win 98SE. I use an old Norton SpeedDIsk on the Win 98SE machine.

    It is said that the default MS Windows defragger for Win 98SE is not particularly good and was improved for Win ME which is compatible with Win98SE. If you have a Win ME version use that.

    I forgot about DiskKeeper Lite.... thanks Halo. Most of the ones listed in the link from Maxwell are only w2k/XP compatible. Attached is a screenshot of DiskKeeper in action on the Win98 computer. As you'll see, it is in DESPERATE need of a good defrag!

    I'll also give a vote for diskeeper lite, especially as I've run it with win win98

    Yeah dlb, an old app but one that is still a good choice for older OSes, glad my memory jog helped ;)

    Apart from Windows Vista as it doesnt have access to terminal services.

    Oh, thanks. Didn't know that. I guess I'll keep an eye out for that if I ever start using Vista. rolleyes:eek:;)
