I use Defraggler occasionally to defrag files. I used it yesterday to defrag a drive. After it finished (took long), I analyzed the drive, looked ok and for the hell of it I deragged it again expecting to have the program fly though a defragged drive. To my surprise, it started defragging the drive again!
    I don't get it.

Yes to defragment fully you will need to run the program several times, depending upon the state of your hard drive.

Each time you run it the scan will be quicker than the last until eventually it takes less than a minute.

Defrag is best run from Safe Mode, by the way.

OK, I see. Why that way though, how come it doesn't defrag first pass? Also, why the safe mode?
