Defragment hard drive

i used the defragment tool in the system tools section 5 times, my hard drive is still pretty defragmented; 3 yr old system; is there another way to further defragment my hard drive; the system performance is 'ok', for a 3 yr. old gaming desktop; windows/xp. thanks

 

Iobit Smart Defrag is one of my favorites.

This is excellent ... I recommend using it instead of the Windows Xp defrag tool.

Been using Defraggler for a while now and works lightning fast compared to the Windows defragmenter.

Only 5 times? Your hard drive when in daily use playing games will get pretty scrambled within a week of use. I've used Defraggler for a while now and defragment with it usually twice a month. It is lightning quick compared to the Windows defragmenter.

I prefer Ultimate Defragger or Auslogics.
Anything is better than Windows version.
Just find one you like and use it exclusively.

 

If you've run the defragger 5x and have fragmented files left over, it could because those are system files and/or there is insufficient free disk space to defrag the files.

Download the free trial version of Diskeeper 2009 and defrag with it; use in auto defrag mode for best results, and run a boot-time defrag if the paging file is fragmented. It will defrag all files. I use the full retail version, and the trial versions works exactly like it, except that it has a 30 day limit for use; but that should be plenty of time to defrag your drives.
