In defraging the drive, the report shows numerous restore times that weren't deleted. Is there a way to delete these past restore points to free up some additional disk space? Thanks

That method is designed for removing viruses, and is fine for that, but not really to clear old restore points to free up space.

You won't be protected until another restore point is created.

A better way is to delete all but the most recent restore point.

Go to My Computer, right-click your drive, Properties, Disk Cleanup, then under the System Restore heading click Clean up.

Been there and done that. At the end of the defragmentation. It states that there are some fragmented files that weren't able to be removed. About half of them are restore points. Can't seem to get rid of the darn things.

You cant defrag 100% of your files. There will always be a few that stick behind...

Especially ones in use like RPs.

You are welcome to try a third party defragger, but the XP defrag program does have this limitation.
