Firefox taking inordinate load times, crashes, Wanted to try Firefox self repair program, could not load.
Outlook freezes/locks takes several minutes to load
    Chrome slow in loading
Computer freezes, completely unresponsive. After some minutes am able to use computer.

Yesterday BSOD "un(mount)able_boot_volume {cannot read own writing} OX000000ED" and long
    series of numbers and letters
Followed instructions on screen, computer reset.
    Today, #$@^ glitches popped up.

    Hope this makes sense

After researching these constant glitches, I am left with the cause seemingly being the age of my system and the lack or inability of its getting Win updates?
Need to read up on that. Not sure I understand the why's.

Firefox is at v 60. End-of-life 56.0.x product line on November 14, 2017. You are more than 6 months out of security updates.

I don't run Chrome on any Windows computer. I feel it is too invasive so I can't help you with that.

On my 32 bit and 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium, I'm running FF v 52.8 ESR which is updated until the end of August.
I've also running v 60 portable to find addons since the old addons no longer work.

Grab v 60 portable and kick the tires.

after you figure out Quantum (yes it is definitely faster than the old FF) and find addons to replace what you currently use, then you might want to install v 60.

I read similar comments as Plodr's about Chrome. I found the program Duck Duck Go, a search engine that alleges it is compatible with Chrome, and stops the snooping Chrome seems to be noted for.
I am gun shy about a lot of programs now, having so many problems with out of date, non-supported, incompatibles, etc. So far Chrome is working smoothly for me, but I don't care for the privacy issue it has.
Any thoughts about Duck Duck Go and its compatibility with Chrome?
    Thanks, in advance

You shouldn't have any problems using DuckDuckGo in Chrome.

Using a different search engine than google doesn't stop the invasiveness of the chrome browser. Don't confuse the browser with the search engine.

I use google as my search engine.

    Go here https://support.google.com/websearch/answers/465?hl=en
Click on Search and select Past searches and browsing activity.

Go through each section and you will see, you can stop google from keeping track of you.

Got error code 1207. (of course)
Found program ReviverSoft PC Repair Center which claims to fix problems with Win 7. Found several unfavorable comments on the program.
Anyone on a reliable fix-it tool for Win 7?

On what? You need to explain what you were trying to open or had open when that error popped up.

Talked with shop that built this computer, explained chronic problems.
They suggested going to Win 10
