Delayed Response

I have an Acer Aspire M, with Windows 8.1, it is only about half a year old. When I had gotten it, the hard drive was corrupted and I had to send it in. Since then, it has been working fine. However the fans have been extremely loud lately, and there's no way to open up the bottom to clean them, unless I haven't figured it out yet. But that isn't the problem. The problem is that recently it has become a bit unresponsive. And this is what I mean by responsive: it loads perfectly fine when turned on (maybe a bit slow), and then when I open the desktop app, it works fine for 30 seconds, and then everything just becomes unresponsive and the fans stop, leaving the cursor wheel spinning. But the weird thing is, my laptop doesn't crash, it just stays in that state until it decides to respond again. From my recent discovery, it probably only stays unresponsive for two or three minutes. This may not be the best explanation, but I am open to giving any more information about this.
