Delayed write failed

Hi.

I am running windows XP professional sp3, as effectively a peer to peer network. I use external usb hard-drive for my main file sharing and savings. (It is a small business PC system).

I use truecrypt to encrypt and decrypt the usb drive.

My users access files and save files on the encrypted usb drive on the peer to peer network.

All was fine.

Last Thursday for some reason the drive dismounted itself overnight. It then did the same on Friday and today.

This morning it would not recognise the drive at all. I moved it to an alternative PC, and it set up, and then ran chkdsk. It said there were some errors and it fixed them.

I have also noticed that I am getting a Delayed Write Failed message when I look at the administrative tools logs. I have checked that all my drives have "enable write cashing on the disk" disabled. I am concerned that this is something more serious.

whilst I am currently encrypting a new hard drive, on to which I am hoping to transfer the existing files, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what else may be causing the "delayed write failed" error?
