Could anyone help me how to delete some entries from XP?
I had Norton System Works 2004 installed last year from CD I bought and renewed until next year. I decided to delete the program using Add-Remove, however this left some Norton related entries. In the Add-Remove list there is “Norton WMI Update” and after clicking the remove button it asked for the Update installation disk which I don’t have. This item does not show up in the the Registry. In the Services list there are several Norton related entries which are marked “disabled”. These entries also do not show in the Registry and when I tried to delete them via Start/run sc delete <service name> it did not work and “these are not existing services” window came up.
Is there any way to clean up these from the system? WinXP pro 2004 OS.

Others will soon reply on the method (and link) on removing Norton leftovers. IMHO, I would consider still keeping WinDoctor and Speeddisk portions of SystemWorks. Remove the AntiVirus by all means, but keep these 2 as they are extremely useful.

Download Avast from MG, in place of Norton AntiVirus.

Look under the "References" heading at the end of THIS link for how to remove Norton.

Does this link also work for "2004"? Link only mentions "2003" and earlier. Bazza

Thank you for your replies and suggestions to remove Norton SW. I have already removed all Norton programs and all Symantec entries from the registry. My present problem is how to remove the one NortonWMI update line from the Add/Remove list and the other Norton related lines from the Services list. I have no intention to reinstall Norton SW.

How much do you want to sell it for? Include postage to Australia. I love Speeddisk, and WinDoctor has saved my Ar*e on more than one occasion. I don't load, or use, the Anti Virus, though. Bazza
