deleted something i shouldnt have!

I have just removed :-
Driver update for C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Using add/remove programs, when I rebooted i got errors, I want to download it again from Microsoft but cant find it! When I go to updates it dosent show because i have downloaded it once and I cant find it anywhere.

I know, im a dummy, always messing with stuff that i should leave alone!

If it's not listed under optional hardware updates, you may have to totally uninstall the entire sound driver and re-install it. Or you can try going here: http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/driver ..... look for your particular driver and download/re-install it, or see if the update that you removed is available.... good luck!

Is there anyway i can download the update from Microsoft again? Its in my download history there but I dont know how to download it again!

 

Its not Microsoft software so no you can't download it from them.

 

It came as an update from Microsoft, I have a screenshot I could show to you from my MS update history, but cant upload it as I dont know how to reduce the file size to 97.7kb!

Tried that it wont work still, at start up I get :-
Error Loading cmiconfig.cpi The module cannot be found

Does anyone please know how I can download an update off microsoft again? I downloaded it once and deleted it now it dosent show when I scan for updates, its in my update history but I cant find how to download it again!

I deleted it because I have the latest Realtek driver, and thought it would be safe to delete after reading something in the driver forums. Its my own dumb *** fault for messing with stuff. I just cant be doing with this stupid error message when I boot!

 

Strange, I just clicked on it and it opened no problem.....

Try going to Add/Remove Programs, check the little box at the top to show updates, and look for the item that corresponds to your update history, and remove it. Then try going back to Windows Updates and see if it's available.

Im really annoyed with this crap, I have a Realtek AC97 audio with up to date drivers, then windows installs this C-Media crap, I try to remove it and end up with errors! Why do they put this as an automatic update, everything was sweet before!

That link worked today hopperdave, dunno why it never yesterday? strange!? I dont even have a C-media device but I have just randomly picked a driver in the hope it will sort this error message out. I will post again if it works.

I downloaded a random driver from the link you gave me hopperdave and reset my computer, I had no error message but no sound.
Then I went to the Realtek site and reinstalled my audio driver from there and now I have both sound and no error message!
Seems to me a bit stupid to have this C-Media driver on here for no reason when its not even for my hardware, I was going to contact Microsoft but theres no way Im paying £40 for a question! They are cheeky arnret they?
Anyway Ill leave everything well alone now it all seems to be working correctly, thanks for the advice people.
