Deleting a file

I have looked through the other deleting threads and none of them match my description, so I decided to open a new thread. Anyways, I have 2 3 gigabyte files floating around my hard drive and I want to delete them. The thing is, when I try to delete them, it gives me this message saying make sure the disk is not full, or write protected, and the file is not currently in use.

I don't know what the thing is about the disk being not full, but I have made sure that it is not in use or write protected. I have also tried using simple file shredder, but all it does is start at 255% and go to 0% and start over. It takes a long time too. Could anybody shed some light on this for me? Thx.

btw I am using Windows XP and the files are iso and daa and I made them myself.

 

Boot In To Safe Mode And Then Try.

Agreed! There will be less of a chance of a process locking the files if you were to boot into safe mode (restart the computer, and repeatedly hit F8 to access the boot menu)

If that fails, I would then try Pocket Killbox to remove them.

Also, if you mount the ISOs directly make sure that the program you are using (in my case, Daemon Tools) is currently mounting another file in a different directory. I have found that even if I un-mount the file it may not delete unless I mount something else in a different directory. Alternately, you can use Unlocker. It is an excellent free file unlocker that I almost can't live without.
